Well the last two weeks have definitely been a whirlwind. Last weekend featured both the Niagara International Moot and UDM’s annual Barrister’s Ball.

After a rocky start on my way to Toronto (who knew there were two Intercontinental Hotels in downtown?), the weekend went pretty smoothly. The competition kicked off on Friday with 4 rounds per team. Our team did well and gathered strength throughout the day. Unfortunately we got out argued by some tough competition and just missed advancing.

The upside to this was that it meant we had no rounds on Saturday and I was free to make the drive back to Detroit for the Ball. My date had to cancel last minute but with a few phone calls I managed to quickly find a replacement. The event this year was at the Atheneum Hotel. They were extremely welcoming and the perfect venue. The committee pulled off a great event and we all celebrated well into the early hours. While it was a really fun night it as was also bitter sweet, being one of the last times we will have the opportunity to celebrate and socialize with many of our classmates before graduation.

I can't attach pictures but here are a couple if you're interested. The commemorative glasses: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0z5rru39j0qgsmh/glasses.jpg

The weekend was followed up with a midterm for my Cross-Border class on Tuesday morning and the marks from my other midterm on Wednesday. My todo list may be short these days but it still has some large items. I’m currently working on planning the Dual JD grad night and ordering Dual JD clothing as part of my role as SBA class rep. We also have an all years Dual Class Barbeque coming up and had the Graduation fair last Wednesday, at which we ordered our regalia, class rings and proofed all the written aspects such as the class composite and program.

This weekend’s highlight was the inter-school hockey game. It was a double-header Saturday night with game one between UDM and the University of Windsor Outlaws. This was followed by the Outlaws facing off against the Dual JD team, the Pro Bonos. The Outlaws swept both games but it was great to see so many people out from both schools and have the chance to chat at the follow up social.

This week’s focus for me is to start dealing with the less urgent items on my todo list. After a semester of crazy deadlines and demanding work it’s time to focus on the more flexible deadlines. I’ve got a presentation, 3 papers, 2 more tests, and some serious clinic work to complete before the semester is over. It’s going to go quick.
