I hope the school year is starting off well for everyone.
This semester, I have an interesting course load. On Mondays, I have Advanced Advocacy, an upper-level writing course required for students on moot court. Tuesdays are my crazy busy days with Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), Evidence, and Criminal Procedure; I have class 9-4pm, with a break from 1 to 2. Thursdays are pretty similar, but I only have Evidence and Crim. Pro. Wednesdays and Fridays are the best days…no classes!
So far, the semester seems to be going well enough. Four months off for the summer is a ridiculously long time, and I have found it difficult to get back into my school routine. I’m hoping within these first few weeks, I will regain my ability to effectively read through cases with the speed that I had reached at the end of last year.
It has been very weird adjusting to having class only three days out of the week. So far, that has meant days of great stress, followed by relaxing “let’s not worry about school today” days. Maybe there is a better way to go about things, but my way has been working well so far…short-term goals and rewards.
Today was my first full Tuesday. ADR was cancelled last week, which gave me a chance to slowly ease my way into a normal routine. Today though, in addition to my regular three classes, I had a career services workshop during my only break. (They provided lunch though; it works.) This means that I was basically in class straight from 9am-4pm. Yikes. I’ve decided that Tuesday nights are going to be my relaxing and/or social evenings…I will have all day Wednesday to deal with my homework for Thursday. Tonight, after I made dinner, I read a non-textbook and watched some television. Oh so nice. I’m afraid I could get used to this…
