It is absolutely beautiful outside today, and here I am working on my law review competition piece at the excessively air-conditioned public library. Yesterday, I somehow convinced myself that it would be very productive if I worked on my memo while sitting outside and working on my tan. Yeah, I think the actual “work” part of that lasted a whole ten minutes…so now I’m paying for it today.
If you are not interested in hearing a personal story of the dangers of grilling, feel free to skip this paragraph; it has nothing to do with law (well, maybe negligence?), but I think there’s a good lesson
here. We were going to grill yesterday, but we were supposedly out of propane…and no one bothered to close the valve on the propane tank. One of the knobs on the grill was also turned on but not lit. (Don’t ask how this happened; I had nothing to do with the proposed grilling yesterday…). We had the windows open all evening, and we couldn’t figure out why there was such a weird smell in the house. I eventually figured it out, but not before we all started experiencing symptoms of propane inhalation exposure (headaches, dizziness, and nausea; and no, propane fumes don’t set off your carbon monoxide detector…). It was a pretty miserable evening.
On the plus side, I have today, tomorrow and Wednesday, part of Thursday…and then I am on vacation! (Mind you, first I need to just sit down and finish my law review work…) I’m pretty excited to be
skipping town for a few days; hopefully the time away will refresh me for my externship with the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, which I start on June 3.
I hope you are all getting the chance to enjoy the beautiful weather!
