Today is a day for kleenex, cough drops and juice boxes. I’ve been healthy all semester (which was a big deal for me!) and of course that all changes right when I really can’t afford to get sick.
With law school, missing one class is enough to set you behind…as such, it takes a lot for most students to give themselves a sick day. Of course, when half of the class is coughing and blowing their noses…it’s no surprise when the other half of the class is sick the next week. In law school, disease spreads almost as quickly as the gossip…
On a complete other note, I had an interview yesterday for a summer externship. With the exception of a metal-detector incident (I was distracted by my attempts to remember whether I had removed my stapler, which apparently is a forbidden item, from my purse and forgot to take off my watch…and I forgot that I was wearing a watch because I usually don’t and had only worn one yesterday because I wasn’t able to bring in my cell phone…), it went really well. They offered me a position, for which I will receive an official e-mail in the next couple days. I have another interview on Monday for another organization at which point I will make up my mind about what I want to do. (Don’t worry; I won’t always be this cryptic about my externship choices. I just feel uncomfortable talking about my decision-making process online...particularly because I put the fact that I was an admissions blogger on my resume.) Pretty exciting.
Yesterday, St. Patrick’s Day, was the biggest day of the year for the Irish-American Law Society. They threw a pretty loud party in the student lounge. I daresay there seems to be a larger than average number of students missing from class today. (My big St. Patrick’s Day celebration involved eating some Taco Bell while watching some Law and Order: SVU and then going to bed early…I am such a party animal.)
For tomorrow, I have little, if anything, to do. I am ahead on my reading for civil procedure, and Prof. Dodge is amazing and told us we didn’t have to read any further for property this week. As such, when I get home after babysitting tonight, I’m eating dinner and going right to bed…
