What a weird weekend.
So our supply agreement assignment deadline got pushed back to Monday at 5pm. As a result, on Thursday night I ended up doing my reading for Friday before doing my supply agreement…and by the time I finished reading it was pushing 1am, I had been up for eighteen hours and I was going to bed.
Friday, I got home from school and spent a couple hours clearing some shows off of my DVR. That evening, we went out to dinner…and my sister and I ended up with mild food poisoning symptoms. There went my Friday night.
Saturday was a productive day. I watched some television, went out for lunch and worked on my supply agreement (until I hit the point where I hit a metaphorical wall and needed a break from it), went home and rearranged some of the furniture in my room and did some hard-core cleaning, thought a bit about my moot court argument…
Then we had wonderful daylight savings time, and, because everyone in my family seems to have stuff to do on Sunday mornings, I was up at 9:30am. I did some more work on my moot court argument and then my friend came over and we worked through our arguments together. It worked out really well. Later, we had friends of the family over for dinner, and now here I am to finish my supply agreement assignment. At the moment, my agreement is a printed version with a bunch of annotations in various colored ink and my memo about the changes exists in the form of nonsensical scribblings on a yellow legal pad. I’d say that’s a pretty good start…
When we were working on our ALTA briefs, my professor told us to expect most of our argument to come together when we least expected it. We could sit behind a computer as long as we wanted, but if we really wanted to flesh out our writing, we were probably best off getting some coffee and sitting down with a pen and a legal pad. I wholeheartedly agree. Maybe it’s just the distractions (the internet, free cell…) that seem to accompany computers, or maybe it’s the intimidation factor of the blank white page and that blinking “this is where you’re typing” cursor thing…maybe I’m just old-fashioned. Regardless, hand writing just seems to work better for me. Something to think about for those of you who share my ability to sit and stare at a computer screen for hours without actually typing anything more than a name, date, and maybe a title…
I guess I should really work on this supply agreement. I’ve only been putting it off now for a couple days. Anyway, what was I saying about computers being distracting…?
