Already Thursday!
Today is a late babysitting sort of day. I’m usually done on Thursdays by 6:15pm, but it’s looking more like 9pm tonight. I just finished making a gourmet meal of chicken nuggets, rice and strawberries (as always, I am so thankful for their simple tastes), and now they are off playing by themselves as though I don’t exist. I suppose it’s a good time to update my blog.
It’s been a pretty fast moving week, and pretty normal too. Yesterday, I went to the capital punishment debate that Ashley mentioned. Some of their discussion was a bit technical for my understanding (I’m sure it didn’t help matters that I was exhausted), but it was really interesting. The professors who spoke had really strong backgrounds on capital punishment issues; I am amazed by the wide range of specialties our professors have.
My big issue of the week involved stocking feet on carpeted stairs. I slipped, fell down three or four stairs, bloodied up my elbow, banged up my back. As active as I am, I always seem to get injured during the more mundane of activities.
Today was an exciting day for the 1Ls. Our moot court assignments were posted. We are going to be arguing the issue about which we wrote our briefs, and we today found out what side we will be arguing (I’m arguing the side I originally wrote for, for which I’m grateful), what time of day (afternoon!) and who we will be arguing against (I’m against a friend of a friend). We were also assigned to a coach who will help us prepare for our oral argument. Because of my wonderful UDM pre-law professor, Dr. Mantzopoulos, I have already had some moot court experience, so although I’m anxious about this moot court, I’m also excited to take my previous experiences to a new level.
Anyhow, I should probably get to working on my reading for tomorrow. My civpro professor, Prof. Goldman, recognizes that we are never too old for things like snack time, and lets us have “treat day” once a week. It’s my turn to bring in a treat for tomorrow and I’m making rice krispie treats…
