The week is already 40% over!
Today, I had Contracts 9-10:30am and then ALTA (Applied Legal Theory and Analysis) 11:30a-1p. After class, I also had a conference with my ALTA professor (the fabulous Professor Lysaght) about my final writing assignment for the semester. Later, I babysat for a couple hours before heading home for the day.
If you have looked into UDM Law at all, you likely have heard mentions of our ALTA class. Most days I really enjoy ALTA; it is easy to see how we will use the skills we develop in our professional lives. (It is rather a lot more difficult to enjoy the class when we have assignments due, but I think that’s just par for the course…) We had two graded writing assignments for the semester; the first was a memo that was similar to what we would send to a senior partner as a first year associate. At the moment, we are working on a client letter where we take a set of hypothetical facts, research how a court would likely rule, and advise the client of his options. Our class has required conferences this week to discuss our letters with our professor…and I walked out of mine feeling so much better about the assignment. The best part? ALTA was cancelled for Thursday!
Anyway, now that I have this posted, it’s back to a short reading assignment for Property and then probably a couple hours of work on Torts…I’m hoping to get to bed before midnight. It seems like H1N1 keeps getting closer and closer and I’m convinced that it will attack as soon as I fall under the weather (which is so easy to do in law school…).
My advice for law school and life in general: take your vitamins, wash your hands…and stay far away from people who are coughing and sneezing!
