Blog Entry 103
March 4th, 2011
Between work, school, and the Veterans clinic, I’ve been so busy that I’ve only been able get about 3 hours of sleep a night. Unfortunately, I still do not have enough time to get everything done. I’m not quite sure how I’m going to handle this; I know I really need to get a good night of rest. I’d love to get 6 hours of sleep; in fact, I think it would be the best feeling ever. Instead, I’m trying to figure out if there is any way to cut back on sleep even more because I simply do not have enough time.
On a more exciting note, this week I get to conduct a hearing at the Federal McNamara Building for the Veterans Clinic. The hearing is with the Board of Veterans’ Appeals (BVA). Typically, they handle cases exclusively in Washington, D.C.; however, they have a Travel Board that will travel around the country to the different VA locations for veterans who cannot afford to travel to Washington, D.C. I’ve been working on a brief for it for the past few weeks, and it’s still not done. I also have to prepare my client for the hearing. There is a lot of preparation still to be done!
I’m also still preparing for the Keenan Appellate Advocacy Competition which is quickly approaching. Although tomorrow is Saturday, I will be at the Veterans Clinic by 8:30AM. Although I feel as though all I do is work, I truly enjoy what I’m doing and I feel like I’ve learned and grown so much this year.
I realized today that there are only two months left to the semester. It is absolutely insane how quickly time is flying by. Only two months left means it’s time to step up the intensity, although at this point I’m not sure I can get more intense, unless I just stop sleeping all together!
I have to be on my way to school in 6 hours and I’m not nearly done the work I want to have completed before I sleep tonight, so I will get back to work, but I’ll try to blog again in the next couple of days….Have a great weekend!
