As April gets closer, I realize that it will be the last full month I have as a law student. That is the weirdest feeling in the world.
A close friend from law school asked me and a few other friends last week: what was your favorite part of law school? My answer: (laughter)...
There is no single answer, I have loved every minute of it. Sure I'd be lying if I said it wasnt ridiculously hard, or frustrating a...

Although you can't tell from the weather, Spring is here. We are over the semester hump and getting closer to final exams.
This past weekend, we had our 1L Moot Court Competition. It was a lot of fun! Everyone was really nervous going into it, but as soon as it was over, all you heard was how exhilarating the experience was for the competitors.
The talk of summer internships is in the hallways, too. This is the time students start to narro...

After such a busy start to the semester (or really first half of the semester) I feel like I’m finally settling back into the normal swing and sway of law school. Last week involved 2 smaller assignments, meeting with a professor about one of my midterms and generally just getting myself sorted out for the rest of the semester; nothing huge or phenomenal but a successful week nonetheless.
I was also lucky in that a friend of mine took advantage ...

Generally, daylight savings time comes and goes almost without being noticed. This year - not so much. I can't believe it is already this time of year and I think I'm still recovering from that lost hour of sleep over the weekend. That probably sounds a bit strange, but every minute of sleep seems to count these days. A jam packed calendar is to blame...

Well the last two weeks have definitely been a whirlwind. Last weekend featured both the Niagara International Moot and UDM’s annual Barrister’s Ball.
After a rocky start on my way to Toronto (who knew there were two Intercontinental Hotels in downtown?), the weekend went pretty smoothly. The competition kicked off on Friday with 4 rounds per team. Our team did well and gathered strength throughout the day. Unfortunately we got out argued by som...

Now that graduation is less than 2 months away (scary!) - I cannot figure out if I believe law school went by fast or slow. It just depends on what angle I look at it. In some ways it feels like my first day was "forever-ago"; but in other ways it has flown by at lightning speed. I'm definitely excited and really anxious to start my job in the fall, which is what makes the passing time feel slow. But I'm sad to leave a rea...

Diving right in, yesterday was a blast. We had our annual Barrister's Ball, and it did not disappoint. It was nice to see everyone dressed up and having a good time. The most important thing I've learned this year is to keep laughing. Letting yourself get drowned in law school will turn your heart black. Don't get me wrong, stay on top of your assignments, but there's no reason to think you can't have a little me-time as well.
That being said, i...

While law school has definitely involved its fair shair of multitasking challenges for me from the very beginning, this past year has been the most challenging. But I've made sure that it has also been fun. Traditionally 3L's like myself would coast through their last year, but not me! I chose to take on quite a lot. And I think that most 3L's are unable to coast in their last year just because of today's tight legal market and the mo...

74 days to graduation. The semester is flying by and this past month has been no exception. Our Memorial went in for the Niagara Moot and we’ve been heavily into practicing. I made it through midterms and even managed to escape for a lovely sun vacation with a good friend over reading week. I’m writing more job applications, organizing our year end Dual JD graduation event and working on launching our next moot committee project on the Canadian s...

Well I’m really glad I didn’t sign up for more credits. The first 2 weeks of the semester were busy! My classes are off to a good start. I have a variety of really interesting professors who know their subject area really well. Best of all they all enjoy teaching and working with students. In addition to this SBA (Student Bar Association) activities are kicking off for the semester and I’ve joined a local ski league. Lastly the memorials (submiss...
