Hello all! Thank you to all of my loyal readers who joined me for all of my law school adventures! I graduated in May, so I'm obviously not a "student blogger" anymore, but there were so many of you who followed my blog throughout my three years of law school, and I felt you deserved an update on my post-law school life. (Yes, there IS life after law school!) I took the Michigan Bar exam in July. Not to put too fine a point on it, yes, it is a...

Something I love about UDM Law is the strong sense of tradition, much of which stems from the school's Jesuit roots. One nice opportunity that is available to the students who choose to take advantage of it is the Baccalaureate Mass. The mass is held at the church adjoining the law school, and takes place the night before graduation. It's an optional part of the graduation festivities, but is one that many students enjoy taking part in.  T...

The papers have been turned in. The final exams have been completed. The editing has come to an end. The cap and gown have arrived. The announcements have been sent. The party has been planned. I graduate on Friday. It still hasn’t quite hit me yet. I really planned my classes well this semester. I had a crazy few days where I had a project due on Monday, a paper due Wednesday, a tax final I took Saturday and Sunday, and then an in-class final...

Less than a month and a half to graduation!! Where has the time gone?! With it being the beginning of the month, I have filled out my April calendar, and it is making me wonder just where all of the time has gone! This is the month for final exams, final papers, and final projects. Fortunately, this semester seems pretty light in comparison to semesters past: I have a final project for my Small Firm Practice LFP, a WAC (writing across the curric...

What a busy week it’s been! Last week was the annual Barrister's Ball, also affectionately referred to as "law school prom." It was held at the beautiful Coach Insignia on the 72nd floor of the Renaissance Center. It was a fun opportunity to get dressed up, eat an outstanding dinner, do some dancing, and spend time with friends. This was the first year I attended Barrister's, and it was a really fun time. Yesterday, as part of our effort to enh...

Look guys! I have a new picture!  Today was a LONG day. Wednesdays are shaping up to be never ending. I have class from noon to 10pm. Then, when you consider that I like to get to school early to get everything together before class, it's pretty usual that it is a twelve-hour school day. Add in a half hour drive there, and a half hour drive home, and the result is an exhausted Meagan.  The nice part? I only have class on Mondays and W...

Welcome to the new UDM School of Law website! It may not seem like a big deal to you, but now I have the ability to post and edit my own blog posts, so that's pretty exciting for me. I also updated my "biography," so if you haven't read my blog before, that should give you the basics about what I'm all about. I'm also working on getting a new picture...the one that's up now was from two and a half years ago, and I never did like it. In typing th...

Hello Christmas Vacation!!   After a stressful past week (and let’s be real here, a stressful semester…), I have finally finalized the finale of my finals!! We won’t get our grades for another probably six weeks or so (you figure there are some classes of 70+ students, all-essay exams, each student writes 6-8 typed pages…), so now I’m just trying to stop the worrying about how this past semester went, and focus on relaxing and having some ...

Almost there! Ten more days until I’m done for the semester!!   I have a pretty funky final exam schedule this semester. I have three exams, and the first one isn’t until Thursday of the first final exam week. Then I have exams the following Tuesday and Wednesday. And then I’m done. Why is this a funky schedule? Because I had classes Monday and Tuesday of this past week, my clinic on Wednesday…and then I had the rest of the week off. Plus ...

Happy Thanksgiving!!   Wow, what a crazy month! November has been very hectic, but there have been a lot of exciting things going on at the law school!   I serve as a Presidential Ambassador for the University, which gives me the opportunity to represent the students at alumni events. (The interesting part is that I am an alumna of the University, even though I’m also a current student…) The Alumni Reunion Weekend was the last weeke...
