After starting out in the State Appellate Defender’s Office, Federal Defender’s Office and U.S. Attorney’s Office, Prof. Reisig entered private practice with an emphasis on white collar defense. In 1987 he was the first Michigan lawyer to be elected as a fellow of the American Board of Criminal Lawyers. He turned to fulltime mediation in 1997. His mediation practice involves a wide range of disputes including personal injury, malpractice, civil rights, contract, business partnership and employment issues. He is heavily involved in activities for the Oakland County Bar association and received its Distinguished Service Award in 1998 and Community Service Award in 2003. Prof. Reisig served as President of the Oakland Mediation Center. He is included in Michigan Superlawyers and the Best Lawyers in America under Alternative Dispute Resolution. He was the 2012 recipient of the Eastern District of Michigan’s Wade Hampton McCree Jr. Award for the Advancement of Social Justice.
