Professor Hurvitz practiced commercial real estate law on a national basis for thirty years with Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn, one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the Midwest. He represented developers, landlords, tenants, lenders, borrowers, and both privately- and publicly-held companies. He held a number of management roles with Honigman, including serving as a Member of the Board of Directors from June 2007 until June 2011 and as Managing and Co-Managing Partner of the Oakland County office from September 2005 until June 2011.
Educating others has been a constant feature of Professor Hurvitz’s career. He created, headed, and lectured at the firm’s real estate department’s in-house educational programs, including initiating, creating, and coordinating a series of seminars for new real estate associates on both substantive real estate law and negotiation techniques. He contributed to and edited the department’s accompanying practice training manual. He was qualified by the State of Michigan to lecture and provide educational materials to real estate brokers seeking to satisfy continuing education licensing requirement. Professor Hurvitz has been a frequent lecturer, panelist, and roundtable participant at various industry seminars, workshops, meetings, and conferences. He has also been retained by clients to educate their employees regarding various aspects of real estate law.
