J.D. Program & Required Courses
UDM School of Law offers a three-year full-time program, four-year part-time day and evening programs, and a five-year part-time evening program, all leading to the J.D. degree.
Full Time 30 credits per year/3 years
Evening 24 credits per year/4 years
Extended Day 24 credits per year/4 years
Extended Evening 18 credits per year/5 years

Required Courses
J.D. required courses include: Contracts, Property, Torts, Civil Procedure, Applied Legal Theory and Analysis (ALTA), Analytical Tools, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, Evidence, Professional Responsibility, Taxation, two Law Firm Program courses, a Clinic, an International Law elective, and an upper-level writing requirement.

The School of Law offers a curriculum that complements traditional theory and doctrine-based course work with practical learning, providing a solid transition between law school and a legal career. The entire curriculum not only addresses the third and critical transition year in law school, but enhances the first and second years with more legal theory, intensive legal writing, required clinical experience, and an international perspective.
