Nov. 13 Teaching Workshop
35 Law School faculty members attended a teaching workshop on November 13 led by Prof. Michael Hunter Schwartz, co-director of the Institute for Law Teaching and Learning.

The presentation focused on techniques for engaging students in active classroom exercises, which have been shown to increase learning. Faculty explored short in-class writing assignments, oral analysis of problems, and small-group work by students. The goal of all these techniques is to give students more in-class exercise on the skills they are expected to exhibit on law school examinations and in practice. They also allow for individual assessment of students and feedback.
The program was suggested and organized by the Faculty's Curriculum, Strategic Planning and Assessment Committee, which is co-chaired by Profs. Byron Cooper and Pamela Lysaght.
