Almost there! Ten more days until I’m done for the semester!!
I have a pretty funky final exam schedule this semester. I have three exams, and the first one isn’t until Thursday of the first final exam week. Then I have exams the following Tuesday and Wednesday. And then I’m done. Why is this a funky schedule? Because I had classes Monday and Tuesday of this past week, my clinic on Wednesday…and then I had the rest of the week off. Plus I have most of this upcoming week off. In total, that’s eight full days off before my first exam.
It’s actually been a pretty relaxed studying semester, at least so far. Strangely, all three of these exams are, at least in part, open book. (Which I don’t like. I have a peculiarly good memory, so I actually prefer closed-book exams because I find the preparation process much more straightforward.) Preparing for open-book exams is different because instead of memorizing things, I’m making sure I understand all of the concepts, and making sure my materials are organized in a way that I can easily locate everything.
I’ve been devoting several hours every day to working through different subjects, but because I have so many free days to study, I haven’t been doing the super-intense, all-hours-of-the-day studying that plagues most students. I’m actually feeling pretty refreshed: I can’t tell you the last time I’ve gone this many days in a row without setting my alarm clock!
That said, I’m just SO looking forward to being done for the semester. There’s a magic that comes with the end of the semester, and being able to enjoy some quality, guilt-free fun.
I mean, I’m kind of looking forward to next semester too. I am all registered for my final semester of law school classes…ever! Next semester, I will only have classes on Mondays and Wednesdays: Tax, Federal Criminal Law, and Small Firm Law Firm Program. Then, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I will be interning with the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. I’m really looking forward to it: this is the first time my course load has been light enough to do an internship during the school year. I was able to intern with the WCPO during my 1L summer, so I’m excited to go back as a second-semester 3L now that I have some more experience under my belt.
