What kind of car do you drive?
An attorney told me the other day that people will measure your success by the kind of car you drive. He continued, “When you’re meeting a client and you pull up in an old crappy car, how much faith do you think that client will have in you?” Thank God I’m still in law school because I doubt my 2002 Ford Escape would impress any potential client. I guess I know what my first big purchase is going to be when I land that awesome job after graduation- a car that has “success” written all over it!
Everyone loves surprises.
My laptop which is only a year and a half old has been refusing to charge since Christmas break. It will charge and then not charge every other minute! I mentioned, actually more accurately would be complained about, this to my parents a couple of weeks ago but I also told them that I was just going to fight with it until the thing completely refused to charge at all…which I hoped wouldn’t be for another year and a half! (wishful thinking, I know).
On Fridays, I work all day, and yesterday was no different. I worked a little later than usual then headed to the bank because it was pay day! My mom calls me while I’m at the bank with “where are you? What are you doing?” type questions and I snapped back (I can admit probably quite rudely) “I’m at the bank, I have to go, bye”. At this point yesterday, I had gotten a total of 8 hours of sleep in three days. “Tired” would be an understatement; and, I don’t like interrogating phone calls even when I’m well rested. When I finally got home however, I realized why my mom was so eager to find out when I would be home…my parents surprised me with a new laptop! It was such a shock! I’ve truly been blessed with amazing parents. I feel so fortunate to have such a supportive family. It’ll be so nice not having to hold my plug in place and be able to type with two hands again!
