Welcome, welcome new 1Ls!
It has been such a busy week…and school hasn’t even started yet!
I have really enjoyed getting to meet so many of you this week at the organization fair, and as part of our all-new mentoring program! If you see me around, you won’t be bothering me if you stop and say “hello” and introduce yourself.
In addition to it being orientation week, it is also the first week of on-campus interviews. As “rising 2Ls,” we used our Symplicity accounts to upload our materials and apply for different positions, and then we waited around (come on, you should have seen this one coming…) while the firms made their decisions on who to invite for an interview. Then, we were notified of which firm(s) chose us, and allowed to sign up for an interview time. The nice thing about the on-campus interviews is that, strangely enough, they take place on-campus. This is terribly convenient, and I think it will be even nicer in the later rounds of the process when we’re actually in school.
Of course, from there, you wait yet again to find out if you have been selected for a call-back interview, and then you have the opportunity to actually go to the law firm to see what it is all about.
I don’t want information about my interviews all over the internet, but if you are interested to know more, either stop me in the hall, or send me an e-mail.
I wish all of the 1Ls luck with the rest of orientation, and with the start of classes next week. I also wish all of the not-yet-law-students luck with all of their ventures for the year. Keep smiling!
