Well, that’s that. I just submitted my final brief for ALTA. The past two months of my life have been spent working on this assignment that culminates in a clicking of the “submit” button…so anticlimactic. Not even a “congratulations Meagan!” from the submission page, just “Your assignment has been submitted.” Oh well, completion of my ALTA assignment officially marks the start of my SPRING BREAK(!), which means that I am a happy camper. 

This assignment was pretty grueling…but I don’t know if I have ever been more amazed with my writing abilities. This brief involved a lot of different kinds of arguments and it was a challenge just to figure out what should go where and how everything worked together. I was pretty panicky on Friday after I met with my professor, told her about some organizational problems, and realized that I needed to make some major changes to the structure of my paper. I feel very fortunate that our wonderful ALTA TA, Chris, was dedicated enough to come to campus on Saturday morning (a weekend morning during his spring break…) to meet with those of us who needed close-to-last-minute help. Wow. 

Anyhow, to be frank, I really do not want to sit at my computer anymore today. It’s Sunday at 2:45pm, and my weekend and spring break are just now starting. I need to get off my chair and go conquer the world…or, at the very least, go clean my room…

Meagan is a May 2012 graduate of UDM Law. She was admitted to the Michigan Bar in November, and she recently joined the Grand Traverse County Prosecutor’s Office as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney.

During law school, Meagan was active around the School of Law as the Law Review's Executive Editor of Outside Articles and the Vice-President of the St. Thomas More Society. She participated in the Criminal Trial Clinic, and took advantage of two internships with the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office and a summer internship with Judge Stephen Murphy of the Eastern District of Michigan.

In her free time, Meagan also serves as a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, enjoys tap dancing, and can't resist reading a good book.
