A couple days ago I sat down to start writing my first Memorandum of Law which apparently was formerly called just a Brief. I sat down at a large table in the library, opened up a Word document, spread my cases, statutes, notes, and everything else all over the desk and then….nothing. I didn’t know where to start or how to synthesize. I took a deep breath, closed my eyes and told myself to just take it slow…I opened my eyes again and panicked! I was tired and it had been a long day…I decided I would wake up the next morning and tackle it. It’s been two days and I’m making process but I’m going to be honest, it’s not easy!
I’m frustrated and overwhelmed. I’ve never had to work as hard as I have to in Law School. I used to be really good at writing papers. In undergrad my paper was even copied and handed out to everyone else in class to show what a “great paper” should look like. I now have zero confidence in my writing.
