What a week!

Keenan Appellate Advocacy Competition

All semester, my partner and I have been working on our brief and oral arguments for the Keenan Appellate Advocacy Competition which finally began on Friday, March 18th.  We competed twice on Friday and once on Saturday morning which completed the preliminary rounds.  My partner and I received 3rd place for best overall brief and advanced all the way to the finals which was held on Monday, March 21st.  I was most excited because I was able to invite my family and they could finally see my “performance” and what I had been working on for so many weeks.  We were judged by Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Langford-Morris, MI Court of Appeals Judge Morris and Adjunct Professor McGlinn who is senior counsel at the Attorney Grievance Commission.  The team we argued against was incredibly talented!  Professor McGlinn commented picking a winner out of the two teams was like deciding whether you want tacos or pizza for dinner haha.  Ultimately, my partner and I won the Keenan competition! It was unbelievably exciting and words cannot explain the feeling of accomplishment! It was even more exciting that my friends and family were there to watch.

Book Awards

This past Friday was the yearly Book Awards Ceremony where students are honored for their academic achievement or contributions and services provided to the law school.  I had to take the day off of work for it, but I definitely did not mind requesting the day off for this event.   Once again, I was able to invite my family and there was a nice reception afterwards that took place in our school atrium (one of the best spots on the law school campus).
