What an emotional 24 hours.
Yesterday started off as a wonderful day. I had gotten practically no sleep because I was putting the finishing touches on my brief, but I woke up feeling good about life. I went to pick up my bound brief (which is 100% submitted and done, as you’ll see from the picture!), got some Tim Hortons, got to school and got the best parking spot in the lot…life was good.
Then I found out after I got home that my grandma had a heart attack and died unexpectedly that morning. She was 81, but hadn’t been sick, so we really didn’t see it coming.
After finding out that news, I tried to get some of my research done for law review, but I wasn’t overly productive. I was able to narrow down my topic and identify what question I hoped to answer, so I’m hoping the rest of the initial research and the writing of my introduction/history section will go smoothly. (Sickly coincidentally, the note topic I selected a few months ago deals with the property rights of a deceased’s organs…)
This morning, I woke up to the first snow of the season (snow=love), and the news that one of my friends from school, who had anxiously been awaiting the birth of his new little one, became a father to an adorable little girl. What an exciting time for him and his wife, and a beautiful reminder that, even in troubling times, life continues on.
