January 9th, 2010I’ve got a great feeling about 2011! I know it sounds silly, but I’m so excited about the New Year. This semester is going to be my craziest, most challenging semester to date, but I couldn’t be more excited! I absolutely love filling up 16 hours every day…and no, I’m not being sarcastic! Call me insane, but being so busy gives me this constant adrenaline rush. I would lose my mind sitting around the house, not having anything t...

December 21st, 2010Officially halfway done with law school! My last final was December 14th, but it always seems to take me a couple days to relax. Of course, there is the initial celebration, but then there are usually 20 things that have to get done quickly because I had put them off for the past month focusing on finals. I’ve finally reached my relaxation time. This morning I worked, but this afternoon I’ve had absolutely nothing to do for th...

December 9th, 20103 down, 1 to go! International Human Rights Seminar Paper- check! Real Estate Transactions final- check! Environmental Law final- check! I’m going to be honest…I’m a little burnt out at this point, but I’m so close to being done! I just finished my environmental law final about an hour ago and, luckily, it wasn’t as bad as I feared it would be. It was my first exam that I had to take at the hotel down the street. Our school ...

December 2nd, 2010First final of the semester in 4 days! There’s not a lot of exciting things going on right now. How exciting can life be when you’re spending 12 hours a day in a cubicle in the law library? Two weeks from today it will all be over and I can finally start Christmas shopping. It will also mark the halfway mark of my law school career. Time is flying! I don’t know how much I’ll be blogging the next two weeks, but I’ll definitely ...

November 26th, 2010Word Limit Reached! By the grace of God I finally reached the word limit on my seminar paper; now, I just have to make it superb, fix my citations (which will probably take hours), and turn this baby in by December 1st! I officially feel as though I am an expert on the topic; however, I don’t know how useful it will be to me ever again. How often does female circumcision come up in your day to day conversations? Ah, exactly. O...

November 22nd, 2010I learned yesterday that a friend from high school committed suicide. Of course, everyone is left wondering why? This person had an amazing personality and looks to kill...a whole life ahead, cut way too short. Since learning of this tragedy, I’ve been thinking a lot about my own life. Anyone can be taken from us in the blink of an eye, yet I’m continuously “too busy” for pretty much everyone and everything in my life. Law...

November 20th, 2010This past week was completely insane. I’m having a hard time even remembering everything that occurred. I’ll mention a couple of highlights. On Thursday, there was a Symposium on Bullying with 3 excellent speakers who did a great job addressing the recent escalation in bullying related suicides. Although it is difficult to squeeze in these sorts of extra events, they’re usually exceptional and worthwhile, so I do my best to fit...

November 15th, 2010Where did the weekend go? I was at school both Saturday and Sunday, so I guess that would explain why it feels as though there was absolutely no weekend at all. Today I have to give my presentation for my international human rights seminar on female genital surgery. Although my presentation is ready, my paper is not. Luckily, the paper is not due until December 1st, so I have some time before panic has to settle in for that. M...

November 10th, 2010I fell a bit behind in my classes a couple of weeks ago when I was trying to work on my seminar paper and I’m still trying to catch up. I swear, it does not matter how many hours I will work; I still won’t see even a small dent in the amount of work that needs to be done. Honestly, I’m becoming a little panicked! Sometimes, panic can be a good thing because that forces you to get into gear and put in as long of days as possible...

November 6th, 2010It’s already November! Where did the semester go? Final exams are quickly approaching and I am definitely not ready yet. I remember this time last year I was a complete mess. I was so nervous about outlines, exams, and the whole process I could barely think straight. I’ve talked to a couple of current 1Ls and they seem so calm, cool, and collected; I don’t get it! Either they put up an excellent front in an attempt to not let th...
