It's that time of the school year. My Law Review note is complete. I'm at the end of my assignment lists for my classes. Finals are around the corner. I will soon be registering for my final year of law school...I can already feel the dry, Texas air in my lungs. It's amazing how quickly time flies, and how much I've learned these last two years. Go Titans! ...

At this point, courses are in direct preparation for the bar exam. It's more than a year away, but I can already feel the wealth of knowledge seeping through my pores. Whether it's Article 9 this or Probate that, the takeaway is simple: learn the law and apply it on the bar. I may go through my entire career and never revisit some of the concepts I'm currently learning, but that makes me want to soak it in even more. The law is incredibly interes...

That's the general attitude among 2Ls. We're officially more than halfway into law school. It's a great feeling knowing that in a year, graduation will be a big priority. Just as importantly, the talk of studying for the bar will take up every syllable that comes from our mouths. In the meantime, our law review articles are in full-swing. I think we all feel they are currently just a ton a words that aren't saying much, but hopefully that leads ...

The third semester of law school has a strong focus on getting a Summer Associate position for the following summer. It's an exciting process that involves sending applications and networking with firms. The more interviews the better, so you can take what you learn from one and correct it for the next. After focusing on that, you remember you still have classes to worry about. This is that point in the semester where reviewing for finals is a p...

I'm a month into 2L year and it's going well. It's odd not having Section 1 for every class, and in reality, I see the people from my 1L year very rarely. Upper level courses are smaller and a little more relaxed. Having adjunct professors is pretty cool considering three of my professors are Judges. They relate the material to their everyday lives, and it makes for a very interesting conversation. The truth of the matter is, if you're looking f...

The best laid plans of mice and men.....well you likely know the rest. Unfortunately my plan to continue blogging during the bar hit a few road blocks of its’ own. My plan for this post is to basically walk you through my study period, give you some general information on the bar process and address some of the pros and cons of writing in two jurisdictions. I also apologize in advance if this post has more typo's and spelling issues than normal. ...

The heat in Texas is in triple digits, and my internship is in full swing. Working for a non-profit is quite the experience. The lack of personnel means Law Clerks take on a lot of different tasks. I am learning so much, and am able to apply what I learned during 1L Year to the activities I'm assigned. Writing petitions, talking to clients, and lots and lots of research. The team is great, the atmosphere is relaxed, and so far we haven't lost a j...

Wow....I hadn't realized it had been so long since my last post!  Since then, finals have come and (thankfully) gone and after a short break I'm back in class for the summer!  Right after exams I was lucky to get to take an extended weekend vacation to relax before returning to a regular work schedule. And, it has been great to get to spend real quality time wth friends and family whom I admitedly fail to see as regularly as I should d...

This will be my last post as a UDM blogger :(  I graduated last weekend, and now I'm about to start my bar prep class, PASS the BAR(!), and start my career in September!   To follow up on my last post, life did get a bit crazy after my trial so I never got around to telling you about it.  It sure was hard, but it actually went really well and I can honestly say that I had fun now that I look back on it.  My Trial Practice cla...

Two weeks past my technical last day and I suppose you’d expect me to be all relaxed and enjoying that everything is over and done. Unfortunately that’s not quite the case. While the end of classes marks one part of the process life as a law student doesn’t quite end when the classroom part does. Knowing the bar exams and job search aren’t over yet also makes it difficult to feel the normal elation of finishing a degree. Unlike many students I d...
