Jump start your legal education

July 15 & 16 

Why wait until August to get a start on Orientation, law school, or your legal career? Learn about all the services, benefits, and support systems available to you as a Detroit Mercy Law student now. Meet your classmates and professors.

Register for any or all sessions.  There are no costs for incoming Detroit Mercy Law students to attend these events. Please check-in at the Student Service Center 15 minutes prior to your first session.

Class Attire

Business Casual

Your legal career starts now. At any moment be prepared to meet a prospective employer or professional mentor. Chino pants, twill pants, slacks, or knee-length skirt in a neutral or dark color are acceptable for the chance meeting. Golf/polo shirts or other short sleeve shirts with a collar are appropriate for men; a blazer and/or a tie are optional. Sweaters and blouses are acceptable to women. Above all, be clean. Be neat. Be crisp.


Participants may park in the student parking lot on Larned, located on the School’s north side. There is no charge to park in this lot.

Cut Ahead to the Front of the Line

During Jump Start days, incoming students will jump start some Orientation business. At the appointed time get your photo taken for your student ID and register for a parking permit. If you are interested in registering for a parking permit, be sure to bring your vehicle’s registration. We’ll need to see it. The parking for the 2015-2016 is $400. You don’t need to pay it upfront. We’ll bill you.

Reading Assignments

Participants are expected to have read the assignments and be prepared to participate in class. Please leave your laptops at home for this experience.
