President Obama recently announced sweeping changes to the immigration system in the U.S. affecting millions of immigrants and their families. The University of Detroit Mercy School of Law is a national leader in the area of Immigration Law and is stepping up to help immigrants who may qualify for relief.

UDM Law offers free immigration consultations at the Ford Resource and Engagement Center, located at 2826 Bagley, Detroit, MI 48216 on Thursdays from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. UDM Law also offers regular consultations at various sites in Oakland County through a grant from the Oakland County Bar Foundation.

UDM Law is the only law school in the U.S. to offer a Certificate in Immigration, which students earn by taking five classes and an externship in Immigration Law. UDM also features an innovative Solo and Small Firm Incubator Program, which provides intensive supervision to recent graduates who intend to practice in such fields as Immigration Law. And, in UDM Law’s Immigration Law Clinic, students represent immigrants before the U.S. Immigration Court and the Department of Homeland Security. UDM alumni work throughout the immigration system as Immigration judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, in-house corporate counsel, and adjudicators.
