December 23rd, 2010Done. Done! DONE!  Yippee! I am done for the semester…which means I am halfway through my law school career!  Funny though, if anything, I’ve been busier during my “break” than I was during the semester! A lot of my friends from high school are in graduate and professional school out of state, so I’ve had a pretty rich social life over the past few days. I’ve also been doing the whole Christmas thing: putting u...

December 12th, 2010I’m so close to being done…just one more final, and one take-home!! It’s been quite an interesting week.  This past week, I had a bad sinus infection for which I was prescribed antibiotics that gave made me feel nauseated for five days. That was a pretty sucky five days…but my antibiotics ritual is now over, my sinuses are less angry, and life is better.  On Friday was my first final exam, evidence. As I was sitting...

December 3rd, 2010Whew! Made it to Friday! (Not that that means a whole lot now that final exam study time is in full force…)  Tonight, I join a large bunch of my fellow 2Ls for our evidence review session. When better to discuss evidence than 6pm on a Friday night? To make things more fun, the building is under insane construction right now: everywhere you go, it seems to be really hot, really cold, or really noisy. Oh well…I’m hoping our ...

December 1st, 2010What an emotional 24 hours.  Yesterday started off as a wonderful day. I had gotten practically no sleep because I was putting the finishing touches on my brief, but I woke up feeling good about life. I went to pick up my bound brief (which is 100% submitted and done, as you’ll see from the picture!), got some Tim Hortons, got to school and got the best parking spot in the lot…life was good.  Then I found out after I...

November 27th, 2010I hope everyone is having a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!  For me, it’s been not-so-enjoyable. Thanksgiving was nice, although I did do some work on my brief that evening. Black Friday involved five hours of working at Bath and Body Works, and then more work on my brief, along with a mild freak out.  Today is the day where everything needs to come together. It seems like many of my classmates are on the finishing ...

November 20th, 2010Today is Saturday, aka Day 2 of my four day weekend. My weekend ends with class on Tuesday, and then I don’t have class again until the following Tuesday. It’s a shame I have that silly thing called homework…  This week seemed to just drag on. On Tuesday, my usual break in my day was taken up by a law review meeting, where we got tips on how to effectively write an introduction to our note. (We also found out that this no...

November 15th, 2010Today was a crazy sort of day.  I must confess, despite my best efforts (well, maybe not…), my summary and externship paper didn’t get completed on Friday. My summary was turned in early on Sunday (it would have been Saturday, but it was a partner assignment, so we needed to make sure we were both in agreement before we submitted it), and my externship paper was submitted this afternoon.  I got up and out early this...

November 12th, 2010Happy 100th Blog Post to Me!  It is important to celebrate important milestones in life. I’m celebrating this milestone by eating a cookie…and then working on homework. (I should point out at this point that I’m not a loser who counts her blog posts. When I save my posts to e-mail them in, I cleverly title them “blog1,” “blog2,” “blog3,” etc...)  We are at the point in the semester where I am challenging myself...

November 6th, 2010Life-of-Leisure-Meagan no longer exists…at least not until December 14, at 5pm.   The semester is in sight, and I’m feeling the pressure. We have full weeks next week and the week after, then Thanksgiving week, a make-up/review week, and then two weeks of finals. Eek!!  Between now and then, I have just a little bit to do. I sit for two exams this semester, plus a take-home exam. Before I even get to exams thoug...

October 30th, 2010Here it is now, a sunny Saturday afternoon, and Meagan is at Panera to work on…her advanced advocacy argument! (I bet you didn’t see that one coming…)  With advanced advocacy, the big issue is not understanding the law, but being able to take a stand and articulate your position clearly and persuasively. We’ve been assured that we’re not going to be graded on how well we understand the law of absolute and qualified immunit...
