Professor Butterwick is a certified mediator, and community dispute resolution center volunteer. Her mediation experience includes employment issues, civil rights, municipal and large multi-party government and agency disputes. She also mediates housing and neighborhood issues, civil court cases, small claims, adult guardianship, special education, child protection, child custody and family matters. She is a Michigan State Court Administrative Office approved civil ADR trainer. She co-developed state approved training curriculum for civil ADR training and also trains mediators in adult guardianship, parent-teen, truancy, and child protection mediation. She is a member of State Bar of Michigan ADR Council.
