As a partner with Jones Day, Professor Biernacki’s practice area includes patent portfolio strategy, prosecution, freedom-to-practice opinions, reexamination, litigation, and licensing work in the software and business method patent area. His work also includes merger and acquisition transactions where intellectual property is a significant factor. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Professor Biernacki was a software engineer for E.I. Du Pont and a NASA contractor. His publications in trade magazines and presentations before professional organizations typically focus on software and business method patent issues.
