Professionalism in Action
Professionalism and ethics are stressed in every aspect of the career and professional development curriculum. In 2011, UDM Law partnered with the State Bar of Michigan to present Professionalism in Action, a program which paired more than 25 prominent lawyers and judges with incoming law students in small groups to discuss the importance of civility and work through a series of ethical and professionalism hypotheticals. This important program provides an opportunity for interaction between first-year law students and veteran lawyers and judges, and has been incorporated into the Introduction to Law Orientation sessions for 1L students.
This year's Professionalism in Action program will be held August 13, 2012 at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the law school's campus, with a reception immediately following. The program facilitator is UDM Law Professor Larry Dubin. Julie I. Fershtman, State Bar of Michigan President and shareholder at Foster, Swift, Collins & Smith, P.C., will address the incoming class and offer remarks on behalf of the State Bar.
