Respond to your J.D. Scholarship Offer

SCHOLARSHIP ACCEPTANCE

Admitted J.D. applicants who have received a scholarship offer must complete the Dean's Scholarship for Excellence Acceptance form and submit the requisite commitment deposit(s) as indicated in the First-year Commitment Guidelines and Deadlines. Detroit Mercy Law scholarship offers expire if the Admissions office does not receive the online acceptance forms and deposit(s) by the deadlines indicated in its admission offer.

An applicant accepting Detroit Mercy Law’s scholarship offer also must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is available online after January 1, 2016 at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Detroit Mercy Law’s Title IV institution code for the FAFSA is E00392.

Red Mass 2016 - Atrium

Tuesday, September 20, 2016 - 12:00 pm

Detroit Mercy Law will host its 104th annual Red Mass on Tuesday, September 20, at noon at Ss. Peter & Paul Jesuit Church, followed by a complimentary luncheon in the atrium. Rev. Fred Kammer, S.J., J.D., will celebrate the Mass. Father Kammer is a Jesuit priest, an attorney, and a member of the Southern Province of the Jesuits. He has been Director of the Jesuit Social Research Institute since March of 2009. Hon. Victoria Roberts of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan will lead the Renewal of the Lawyer's Oath of Commitment.

Red Mass is an opportunity for law students, judges, lawyers, civic leaders, faculty, staff, and administrators of all faiths to come together and celebrate the beginning of the new judicial term and academic year. The School has hosted the Red Mass on behalf of the Archdiocese of Detroit at Saints Peter and Paul since the School opened in 1912.

Reception at the State Bar of MI Annual Meeting in Grand Rapids - Amway Grand Hotel

Thursday, September 22, 2016 - 4:30 pm

Dean Phyllis L. Crocker will host a cocktail reception for Detroit Mercy Law alumni, State Bar dignitaries, members of the judiciary, faculty, and students at the Annual Meeting of the State Bar of Michigan at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids on September 22 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.  She will make remarks at 5:15 p.m.

Golf Outing - The Inn at St. John's

Friday, September 30, 2016 - 12:00 pm

Detroit Mercy Law will host a Golf Outing on September 30 at The Inn at St. John's in Plymouth, with a shotgun start at 12:00 p.m. followed by dinner and an awards ceremony at 6:00 p.m., where we will honor Mark Wisniewski ('90) with the Time & Talent Award and Macie Tuiasosopo ('13) with the Rising Star Award. All alumni, faculty, staff, administrators, students, and their guests are welcome to attend this exciting new event as part of Detroit Mercy's Homecoming festivities. Meet the Judges Reception - Atrium

Meet judges of the federal and state courts during a casual reception in the Detroit Mercy Law atrium on Tuesday, October 11. The schedule for the evening  is:  registration from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.; welcome remarks 6:00 - 6:10 p.m.; group photo 6:10 - 6:15 p.m.; network and meet the judges 6:15 - 7:30 p.m. Detroit Mercy Law is co-sponsoring this event with the Catholic Lawyers Society of Detroit; Incorporated Society of Irish American Lawyers; and the Polish American Lawyers Society.   • Broughton and Maveal Honored at President's Convocation

    Two members of the Detroit Mercy Law faculty were recognized yesterday morning at the President’s Convocation.

    Richard Broughton, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Associate Professor, was recognized as the recipient of the Faculty Achievement Award. This award is given each year to a faculty member who demonstrates distinctive merit and achievement with the promise of continuing development to excellence in teaching, service and scholarly activity. Dean Broughton will accept the award on November 4th at the Faculty Recognition Awards Dinner.

    Professor Gary Maveal was awarded the Agere ex Mission Award, which is presented to one professor each year who best exemplifies the university, Jesuit and Mercy mission through their teaching leadership and service.

    Congratulations to both Dean Broughton and Professor Maveal.
