Alumni Services

UDM Law School alumni are welcome to use our library resources and to utilize our experienced reference staff. We are happy to offer the following services to our law school alumni:

Alumni Borrowing Privileges

Law School alumni may check out materials provided that our library system recognizes their alumni status. If not, alumni must obtain graduation confirmation from Alumni Relations (313-596-0202). A picture identification is required in order to check out materials.

Up to two circulating items may be checked out by alumni for a period of four weeks. Materials may be renewed once for a period of two weeks.

Unless alternative arrangements are made with library staff prior to an item's due date, your borrowing privileges will be permanently terminated if you fail to return a book or pay for its replacement within 72 hours of a late notice or 48 hours of an item recall.

Reference Services

Alumni are able to call on the significant expertise of our reference librarians. Our librarians will help you identify subject area resources and devise research strategies, and will provide instruction on how to use library materials. To receive reference help, contact 313-596-0244 or 0241.

Westlaw / Lexis Alumni Access

There are computers reserved on the first floor for alumni access to Westlaw and Lexis, all with printing capabilities. Users will have access to state and federal laws, cases, and administrative materials. Reference librarians may be available to assist with research inquiries. There is no internet access available at these terminals.

Remote Access

You may access Murphy (http://www.law.udmercy.edu/index.php/law-library), our online catalog, to identify our library holdings from wherever you have Internet access.

Photocopying

A photocopier is located on the First Floor of the library in the copy center.  Photocopies are 10 cents each.

Microfiche Digital Reader

A microfiche digital reader is located on the ground level of the library.

Red Mass - UDM Law Campus

Tuesday, September 29, 2015 - 12:00 pm

UDM's 103rd Annual Red Mass and Renewal of the Lawyer's Oath of Commitment will be held at Ss. Peter and Paul Jesuit Church beginning at 12:00 p.m., followed by a complimentary luncheon in the atrium of the School of Law.  Red Mass is an occasion for judges, lawyers, civic leaders, faculty, staff, and law students of all faiths to pray together at the beginning of the new judicial term, asking God to bless, strengthen, and enlighten us, so that in cooperation and mutual trust we may effectively achieve justice for all.

The Most Reverend George V. Murry, S.J., Ph.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Youngstown, Ohio, will celebrate the Mass.  Hon. Patrick J. Duggan ('58) of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan will lead the Renewal of the Lawyer's Oath of Commitment.
