UDM LAW ALUMNI ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT MARK WISNIEWSKI HONORED BY DE LA SALLE

De La Salle Collegiate High School honors UDM Law Alumni Association President Mark Wisniewski ('90) at its annual Christian Brothers' Dinner on May 1.

UDM Law alumnus and Alumni Association President Mark A. Wisniewski ('90) has been selected by De La Salle Collegiate High School to be the honoree at the school's 33rd Annual Christian Brothers' Dinner on May 1, 2014. Wisniewski, a 1983 graduate of De La Salle, is the head of the Mass Tort Litigation Department of his law firm, Kitch Drutchas Wagner Valitutti & Sherbrook, and is Firm Manager Elect.

Nearly 1,000 men, including alumni and supporters of the Christian Brothers and the Lasallian mission, will attend the dinner and awards ceremony at Penna's in Sterling Heights. Over the past 10 years, the event has raised more than $1.5 million for De La Salle, an all-boys' Catholic high school located in Warren, MI.

In announcing Wisniewski's selection, Brother Thomas Lackey, FSC, President of De La Salle, said, "When I think about what Mark has done for De La Salle and the Brothers, I am in awe. He is not only an ambassador for the school to his classmates, but also to the larger community."

Honoree Wisniewski said, "We know there are fathers and mothers out there today who want the best educational opportunity for their sons. They just want to give their sons a fighting chance in this ever-changing world. They know that education is the greatest gift they can give their sons. We support the dinner to make sure that Catholic education, and more importantly Lasallian education, is affordable to those who want to attend."

Wisniewski is the youngest of four sons of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald (Betty Lou) Wisniewski. The four Wisniewski brothers all attended St. Raymond Grade School in Detroit, and all are graduates of De La Salle Collegiate High School. Wisniewski went on to attend the University of Michigan before earning his J.D. at University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.

He joined the Detroit office of the 100-member law firm of Kitch Drutchas Wagner Valitutti & Sherbrook in 1990, and in 2012 he was selected as Firm Manager Elect. As head of the Mass Tort Litigation Department, he has served as first chair in several multi-million dollar property damage lawsuits, with a particular emphasis on cases involving asbestos. Wisniewski is also experienced in medical malpractice, products liability, and premises liability defense. He has been elected as a Michigan Super Lawyer every year since 2008. In addition to being the President of the Alumni Association at UDM School of Law, he is also an adjunct professor of trial practice at the School.
