Why did you choose UDM Law?

I knew I wanted to attend law school in the Detroit area, and decided after lunch with the dean that I wanted to go to UDM. All of the people that I met at the lunch were enthusiastic, and it felt like the kind of school where you could receive a lot of one-on-one time with professors and staff.

What do you like best about attending law school in Detroit?

There is always something going on in Detroit—it's never boring. UDM Law has a lot of events at local places, and sometimes sets up outings to see the different sports teams based in Detroit. It's great to get be in Detroit as it's up and coming.

How would you describe the UDM Law community?

The community at UDM Law is very tight-knit. It really becomes like a kind of second family here because you're doing this thing together. It's important to feel that from a law school because it can be daunting at times.

What have you benefitted from the most at UDM Law?

The Moot Court program has been the most beneficial to me in terms of my writing and speaking abilities and my confidence in my knowledge of the law. The program is full of talented students and faculty who actively and passionately help us prepare to be the best advocates.

Where would you like to be ten years from now, and what role will your UDM education or the UDM community play in getting you there?

In ten years, I hope to be a partner at a large law firm in Detroit. My UDM education has already helped me on my first step towards that goal, as I received an associate position at Dickinson Wright as a result of the On Campus Interview process at UDM.

Why would you recommend UDM Law to a prospective student?

I would recommend UDM Law to a prospective student because it is a community-based law school where students can thrive. Going to school in Detroit offers an additional incentive because it offers many opportunities to get involved in different facets of the law.

Tuesday, September 29, 2015 - 12:00 pm

UDM's 103rd Annual Red Mass and Renewal of the Lawyer's Oath of Commitment will be held at Ss. Peter and Paul Jesuit Church beginning at 12:00 p.m., followed by a complimentary luncheon in the atrium of the School of Law.  Red Mass is an occasion for judges, lawyers, civic leaders, faculty, staff, and law students of all faiths to pray together at the beginning of the new judicial term, asking God to bless, strengthen, and enlighten us, so that in cooperation and mutual trust we may effectively achieve justice for all.

The Most Reverend George V. Murry, S.J., Ph.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Youngstown, Ohio, will celebrate the Mass.  Hon. Patrick J. Duggan ('58) of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan will lead the Renewal of the Lawyer's Oath of Commitment.
