Mentor Jet: Taking Networking to New Heights
UDM Law in partnership with the National Association of Women Judges, the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, and the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan-Wayne Region present Mentor Jet: Taking Networking to New Heights. Meet judges and lawyers, and possibly gain a mentor in a fun, "speed-networking" format. A reception will follow the program. Advance registration is strongly recommended as space is limited.
Professionalism in Action with the State Bar of Michigan
This year's Professionalism in Action program, presented by UDM Law in partnership with the State Bar of Michigan, will be held Friday, January 9, 2015 beginning at 5 p.m. in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Small group discussion sessions will take place in classrooms on the law school's campus, with a reception immediately following in the Atrium. UDM Law is pleased to announce that Thomas Rombach, President of the State Bar of Michigan, will address the 1L class and offer remarks on behalf of the State Bar. The program facilitator is UDM Law Professor Larry Dubin. Professionalism in Action pairs prominent lawyers and judges with incoming law students in small groups to discuss the importance of civility and work through a series of ethical and professionalism hypotheticals. This important continuing orientation program provides an opportunity for interaction between first-year law students and veteran lawyers and judges.

Join UDM Law alumni for first-hand tips on navigating the job search process, including how to tailor your resume and prepare for an interview in various practice settings, including public interest, judicial clerkships, and small firms. Mock Interview Program with the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association Barristers
Before you attend the Public Interest Career Fair or participate in Spring OCI, put your interviewing skills to the test with a member of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association. Interviews will take place in 30-minute increments from 12:30-2:00 p.m. and 4:00-6:00 p.m. Advance registration is required. Interview times will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
Annual Public Interest Career Fair
The Career Services Office in partnership with the Externship Program and SBA Public Interest Committee are pleased to present the Annual Public Interest Fair. Meet representatives of local, state, national, and international government, public service, and non-profit organizations in a table talk format. Bring copies of your resume (that comply with the samples in the Career Planning Manual). No advance student registration is required. Lunch will be provided. A duplicate session will be held at 5 p.m. for evening students and those who cannot attend this session due to scheduling conflicts. A similar session will be held in June for Dual JD candidates. Lunch at the Michigan Bar Exam
Complimentary boxed lunches will be served to UDM Law graduates who are taking the Michigan Bar Exam on February 24 and February 25. The Baccalaureate Mass for the Class of 2015 will take place on Thursday, May 7, at 5:00 p.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Jesuit Church immediately adjacent to the School of Law. Rev. Joseph Daoust, S.J., will preside. This Mass offers a moment of quiet reflection and thansgiving for students' educational journey at UDM and an opportunity to ask for God's blessing as they begin their legal career. Members of all faiths and traditions are welcomed and encouraged to attend. Graduates, faculty, and administrators should wear their academic regalia and gather by 4:30 p.m. in the first-floor hallway opposite the SBA office. Graduates and guests may park in the Larned and Christ Church parking lots.
Commencement and Reception
Commencement proceedings for the School of Law's Class of 2015 will occur on Friday, May 8, at 6:00 p.m. in Calihan Hall on the McNichols Campus of the University of Detroit Mercy. U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez is the Commencement speaker. The jubilee class of 1965 will lead the procession. A light reception will immediately follow the ceremony in the Fitness Center, which is a short walk from Calihan Hall. Additional details may be found on the Commencement website. Campus Vistt by Cuba's Chief Ambassador to the United States
José Ramón Cabañas Rodriguez is the Chief of Mission of the Cuban Interests Section, Embassy of Switzerland, in Washington, D.C. He serves as Cuba's chief ambassador to the United States. Dr. Rodriquez will visit the Detroit Mercy School of Law Campus on June 3, 2015. The School of Law and the State Bar of Michigan will host a lunch reception with Dr. Rodriquez from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. in the atrium. Invitations will be sent with the details as the date approaches.
