Professor Silver joined the faculty in August 2004, after five years as a litigator with Jenner & Block LLC and Bingham McCutchen LLP in Chicago and Boston. He graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1998, and clerked for United States District Judge Paul Borman in Detroit prior to joining Jenner & Block.

Before law school, Professor Silver was an international tax adviser with Arthur Andersen & Ernst & Young, in Boston, London, New York, and Washington, D.C. He holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a BA (Political Science) from the University of Pennsylvania.
