Karen McDonald Henning

Professor Henning joined the faculty of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in January of 2008. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, magna cum laude, where she served as Executive Editor of the Law Review. After graduating from law school, Professor Henning served as a law clerk fro Judge Collins Seitz of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Professor Henning worked in the litigation department of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, where she worked on cases involving administrative law, antitrust law, white collar criminal law, and the death penalty. She then worked for the District of Columbia in the appellate division of the Office of the Corporate Counsel, now known as the Office of the Attoney General of the District of Columbia. In her capcity as an assistant corporation counsel, Professor Henning represented the District of Columbia before the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia and the District of Columbia Court of Appeals on a wide variety of cases
Professor Henning teaches Applied Legal Theory and Analysis and directs the Writing for Publications Program. She is a member of the Legal Writing Institute.
