Richard T. Krisciunas

Professor Krisciunas began his career as an assistant prosecuting attorney in the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. He was a trial lawyer in the Prosecutor’s Repeat Offenders Bureau (PROB) and handled several high visibility trials while assigned to Squad 7, the Detroit Police Department’s felony murder section. In 1982 he became a supervisor in the Trial Division and assisted in training new trial attorneys. Later, he served as the chief of the Trial Division under Prosecutor Mike Duggan. He has taught Trial Practice as an adjunct professor since 1982. Krisciunas was also a frequent lecturer and board member of the Wayne County Criminal Advocacy Program

Professor Krisciunas joined the law school as Director of Externships in 2004. He continues to practice criminal law and enjoys having his students shadow him on visits to court.

His current areas of interest include extolling the benefits of externships to our students, mentoring new lawyers as chairman of the Wayne County Criminal Defense Bar Association Mentoring Committee, coaching girls’ soccer and following Notre Dame football.
