Donald Grant, '40 - 1916-2007

A corporate attorney specializing in patent and trademark law, as well as a husband, father of eight and a man of abiding faith.  In September Mr. Grant died of pancreatic cancer at an independent and assisted living center in Novi, Michigan.  He was 90 and a former resident of Bloomfield Hills.  For more than a quarter-century, Mr. Grant was a trademark and patent specialist with Parke-Davis, the Detroit pharmaceutical company later acquired by Warner-Lambert and now part of Pfizer.  He was known as a top-notch lawyer.  He grew up in Detroit and graduated from U of D Jesuit High School in 1934. He graduated from the University of Detroit in 1938 and received his law degree two years later from University of Detroit School of Law. In 1941, he married Jean Scott.  During World War II, he served in the Navy as a communications officer.  Survivors include daughters Mary Ewing and Ann Muenk; sons Peter, Christopher and Robert; 15 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
